Simply Wholesome Health Food Store and Restaurant is a landmark in Los Angeles and has been a health and wellness resource in the community for over 30 years.  Soulfulness4Life is proud to partner with Simply Wholesome to offer the Summer Soulfulness Meditation Series.  I will be leading a guided meditation on most Saturday mornings on the patio throughout the summer. (Please arrive before 9am. The patio will be reserved for meditation beginning at 8:45am and the patio doors will close at 9:05am. Note that space is limited due to the capacity of the patio area.)

OPTIONAL items to bring
(but just bringing yourself is enough!)

**A hat and/or sunglasses as it is getting warm and sunny in the mornings.**

**A cushion, pillow, or towel for your chair to enhance your comfort.**

**A small notebook or journal for revelations and reflections.**

**A smooth stone to use for anchoring during meditation.**

**You may bring a purchased beverage into the meditation (water, a smoothie, juice, tea), but no food during meditation. You can place your breakfast order before meditation to be ready for you after. **  

Other Helpful Information:

**Phones are to be turned off or placed on vibrate during the meditation.
(Meditation is about focusing and giving the present moment your full attention. It is an opportunity to practice resisting the urge to continuously check our phones.)**

**Unless it is urgent, please do stay for the whole meditation to minimize interruptions to the flow.**

**Children are welcome as long as they are capable of being silent during the meditation.**

**RESPECT is the central guideline… respect for the space, respect for others, respect for yourself.**

Meditation is taking a sacred pause to visit with yourself.  It is a time to slow down, to turn down the volume on the noise of the world.  It is a time to take a break the from the stories and chatter in your mind and move into conscious awareness of what is really going on in yourself and your life. It is creating the space for some quietude, to hear the voice of your inner truth and wisdom, to #feelwhatsreal…to connect to your #soulcalling… to free your mind and, as Maya Angelou says, time to heal from the lies you’ve told yourself and the ones that have been told to you.” 

 What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a type of meditation that emphasizes “being present in the present and becoming woke to what is”.  It involves tuning in to both inner and outer experiencing– from the most subtle experiences of your senses, to relational experience, to what is happening in the world, to profound truths and inner wisdom, to what lies beneath words and beyond appearances.  It is a courageous coming home to ourselves and our lived experience over and over and over again so that we can live in the world as more conscious, connected, and compassionate beings.
